Word Sunshine card with ideas to customize!

For some of us, blank greeting cards with plenty of space to design seem like a lot of fun. For others, the idea of creating customized greeting cards feels overwhelming. Less open space is less intimidating. That’s why so many greeting card companies make small cards.

The space you need for customizable cards

Not greeting cards from Word Sunshine! Our  5 X 7 cards have only black ink on the front of thick 100 lb white cardstock. The smooth surface is perfect for personalized greeting cards that make anyone feel special.

Don’t let the size make you feel stressed, though. Think of that blank space as an opportunity to get creative with your message. It’s always more fun to receive a greeting card with some thought behind it rather than a simple signature on preprinted paper.

9 Ways to create a customized greeting card

Not artistic? No big deal. There are plenty of options to make a greeting card your own. Add some stripes or polka dots. Use different colors of ink. Write in big lettering. There are no rules for customizing greeting cards. Here are some inspirations to try:

  1. If you love, love, love stickers, check out Pipsticks. All of your sticker dreams come true in one site. You can even subscribe to a variety of sticker clubs.

  2. Washi tape is another way to decorate your greeting card. What’s washi tape? It’s a special kind of masking tape with different patterns and colors. I included one link to explore,  but washi tape is easy to find.

  3. We’re all about inspiring words at Word Sunshine, so it’s only natural to spotlight some beautiful stickers that feature words and phrases from Elyse Breanne Design.

  4. How about bringing some fun words to the card party? Big Moods has that covered with their line of Sarcasm Stickers.

  5. Put a bow on it! Choose from tiny sticker bows or bows made with ribbons.

  6. Who doesn’t love flowers? Take a few tiny petals and glue them right on the cards.

  7. Scrapbook paper doesn’t have to be limited to scrapbooks. Add some to your cards!

  8. Spell out your message with alphabet stickers. Try heart-shaped letters or even ransom letters.

  9. Mount a photo inside. If you don't have a photo, many places offer quick printing at reasonable costs.

Take a look through our card categories for the perfect one and start planning. It’s your card, so have fun with it! How will you customize a greeting card and create something special?
